First Day of School, 2017–18

On Tuesday, we welcomed 604 CCSA scholars to our new campus for the start of the academic year. In addition to welcoming our newest kindergarten class (class of 2030) we added 11th grade to our high school program. I continue to be amazed that just over 14 months ago this campus was an empty lot of grass and dirt—and now a building stands, already bustling with the excitement of scholars, faculty, and families!

At CCSA, we make it a priority to greet all scholars every morning with a personal welcome as they enter the school building. Yesterday, I was proud to stand alongside a support network of educators, parents, volunteers, and community members to offer handshakes, high fives, and a smile to our new and returning scholars.

In recent weeks, CCSA’s new campus has been called a beacon for the Chester community – and certainly we are proud of all that we have built together—but it is within classrooms, that the true light of learning shines brightly. Romello, a 10th grade scholar returning to CCSA this year shared, “CCSA now stands out in Chester. I am proud to tell people that this my school.” Our scholars understand that this new space will impact their learning and offer enriching experiences that were previously limited in our rented location. Smiles are beaming at the site of our equipped science labs, light filled dance and art studios, and expansive gymnasium because students like Romello envision all that they will study, create, and perform during their years at CCSA.

I want to thank all of you for your support. You ensure that our students have exceptional opportunities to learn and grow both academically and personally. We couldn’t do this without your generosity and commitment.

Now that we truly have a space that matches the program we have rigorously developed, we must continue to push forward towards exemplary programming that will meet the needs of our scholars and the Chester community. When you make a contribution to CCSA, you enable our students to experience daily arts education, rigorous STEM programming, after school athletics, and enriching field trips. We depend on your support and engagement to help our scholars achieve their goals for the future.
