This fall our partnership with the Pennsylvania Ballet has been a creative inspiration to CCSA middle school and high school dance majors.
At The Chester Charter School for the Arts (CCSA), our mission is to empower students to realize their best selves, and employ their intellectual and creative powers to succeed personally and to enrich their community. Partnerships with cultural and arts organizations deepen academic and arts experiences for CCSA scholars and are essential in realizing this mission.
In October, dancers from the PA Ballet Pre-Professional Program performed for CCSA’s high school dance majors. Later in the month select middle school dance majors participated in a master class at the PA Ballet in Philadelphia and received critical feedback from professional choreographers.
In addition, our high school dance majors were given the opportunity to be present at a dress rehearsal for On Edge at the Merriam Theater. They heard a panel discussion where they asked questions of professionals working a variety of roles at the Ballet.
Our partnerships are essential to CCSA’s vision
By forging and strengthening such partnerships across the Greater Philadelphia area, we give our students the kind of experiences that can build in them the courage to take greater creative risks and to set more rigorous academic and career goals for themselves. Furthermore, the social and cultural awareness they gain helps our scholars to develop craftsmanship, to identify their purpose, and to prepare for lifelong success.
